Across the single malts and blends we track, Dubai Duty Free prices premium blends slightly under Heathrow, while Heathrow is competitive on entry-level malts once its promotional multi-buys are applied in store.
If your bottle is a gift-tier blend such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label, buying in Dubai is usually the better call. For a standard 12-year malt, the difference is small enough that carrying a bottle through a connection may not be worth it.
Litre sizes change the maths
Airport exclusives are frequently 1 litre rather than the 700 ml sold domestically. A bottle that looks 15% more expensive can be 30% more liquid. Always compare price per litre, not per bottle.
Allowances still bind you
Duty free savings vanish if customs charges you at arrival. Most destinations allow one to two litres of spirits per adult. Buying three bottles because they were cheap at DXB is a false economy if two are declarable at the other end.
Reserve and collect beats browsing
Both retailers let you reserve online before departure. It locks stock, and it means you are not paying whatever the shelf says while boarding is being called.
